This past Sunday saw the Independants of McHenry County take on the Plowboys from DuPage County in the midst of the MCYSA tournament in Crystal Lake IL. The Breadman was out of the lineup, having assumed the role of as ” FourEyes ” the barrister. Tony “Spur” Johnson stepped up as field general for the Independants. In addition to hurling the onion effectively both right and left handed, Spur pulled the managerial strings magnificently, keeping his own team on their toes, and the Plowboys off balance through nine well played innings.
After the 18 to 11 victory, Spur was close guarded as to the reason for his managerial success, but whispers on the team suggested that having Breadman out of the line up, was a huge improvement .
Will Spur be able to continue his winning ways ? We will find out as the Independants take on the Lemont Quarrymen on Sunday July 27th.
